You can filter for Private Market data in a Market Query by following these steps.
Go to the REPORTS tab – choose MARKET QUERIES and “Create New” to start your report template in the enhanced network. If you are in the classic network,
Go to DATA – COMPENSATION – MARKET QUERIES and “Create New”to start your report template.
After naming your template, select “All Jobs” so that you are pulling all job data or create a customized job list by selecting "Job List" and pick and select the jobs in the Job List box on the right.
Change data elements from Standard to Private Market data elements.
The next step is to Create a Breakout by clicking on “Add a Breakout”. The filter that focuses on Ownership Type will allow you to select private market data specifically.
Private: Venture-Backed: Startups and small businesses that have received financing from Venture Capital investors. Last Round of Financing must be Seed, Series A, Series B, Series C, Series D, Series E or Later.
Private: Private Equity – Growth: Private companies which have received financing from Private Equity investors, often in the form of a minority investment. These are often mature companies that are expanding, restructuring operations, entering new markets, or acquiring another company.
Private: Private Equity – Buyout: Includes formerly public companies taken private by Private Equity investors as well as private companies which have sold a controlling interest to a private equity firm.
Private: Other: Includes family-owned businesses, and other private companies not backed by Venture Capital or Private Equity investment firms.
You can save and run your query with this filter applied or filter further. Filters often used with Ownership type are:
- Industry- You may want to isolate so that it filters for Life Science Industry and Medical Device or Tech
- You can select the Invested Capital level
- Click on "See Additional Filters" at the bottom of the filter box, you can expand the filters selection and select for "Stage of Development"
- There are several ways to filter the area by region, zip, or Metropolitan Statistical Area
After selecting all filters, click “Create” to confirm. Repeat the previous steps to create another breakout or run your report.
Note, too many filters may result in no results. Therefore you may have to adjust the filters if necessary
Once you've created this template and saved it, you can re-run this report at your convenience or share this template with your team.
