General
Accurate Job Matching is the most critical dimension of participating in the Radford Global Compensation Database (RGCD). Participants are expected to report all employees with job matches aligned to our standardized job descriptions which are available in the input template, job catalog, and the Job Matrix on the Radford Network. Job Families are grouped together within typical organizational functions and may or may not reflect how your company is organized.
The Radford Jobs are organized into job Attributes which essentially are building blocks to determine the appropriate job Family and level. Once you identify the Job Family (a combination of Function, Area, and Focus), you can then determine the Level. The Level categories are Executive, Management, Professional, Technical/Scientific, and Support.
The Job Descriptions summarize the primary responsibility of each job attribute and detailed definitions by Job Family. Positions should be matched based on job content. The typical responsibilities are not intended as strict matching requirements. If your job content matches the benchmark job by 75 percent or more, it is considered a good match. If the content match is less than 75 percent, it should be matched to the other area within the respective Function.
The last two digits in the Radford Job Code identifies the Job Level within a Job Family for Executive, Management, Professional, Technical/Scientific and Support jobs. Job Levels differentiate where employees are performing similar duties but at increasing levels of responsibility and competency. Level 1 jobs are entry level with higher digits representing roles of higher impact and increasing skill requirements.
Radford Global Compensation Database participants are encouraged to match to job codes following these steps.
Step 1 - Determine the appropriate Job Module
Step 2 - Determine the appropriate Function
Step 3 - Determine the appropriate Area
Step 4 - Determine the appropriate Focus
Step 5 - Determine the appropriate Level
